10 | "Redeem Points for Gift Certificate" Sub-Function

This article outlines the "Redeem Points for Gift Certificate" Sub-Function, how it is configured in BackOffice, and how it can be used in SmartPOS. The "Redeem Points for Gift Certificate" Sub-Function allows Products to be redeemed through a Gift Voucher Transaction. Gift Vouchers can be issued to an Account allowing purchases by a cash value point redemption.

The "Redeem Points for Gift Certificate" Sub-Function allows Products to be redeemed through a Gift Voucher Transaction.

Gift Vouchers can be issued to an Account allowing purchases by a cash value point redemption.

Depending on the Function Specific Configurations, Vouchers can be selected either individually through the Voucher Setup ID or through a List of all available Vouchers for redemption.

Prerequisites 

  • To access Till Function Settings, the applicable Operator Privileges will need to be enabled
    • Operator Maintenance 'General' Tab
      • System Setup: "Maintain Till Function Maps" Flag
  • To access and use this Till Function within SmartPOS, the following Operator Privileges will need to be enabled:
    • Operator Maintenance 'Till Privileges' Tab
      • General: "Operate Tills" Flag 
      • Accounts & Discounts: "Account Till Functions" Flag
      • Accounts & Discounts: "Redeem Points for Cash" Flag

Initial Setup 

  • Click on the desired Button space and then configure the Button Settings:
    • In the Button Text field enter the text that will display on the Till Function Button on SmartPOS Workstation screens
    • Set the Function drop-down to 'Tables & Accounts'
    • Set the Sub-Function to 'Redeem Points for Gift Certificate'


Function-Specific Configurations 

  • Enter a corresponding number into the Item field where:
    • "0" will display a list of Gift Vouchers that can be selected for redemption 
    • The "Voucher Setup ID" that will  redeem the selected Voucher when the Function is selected 

SmartPOS Example

  • In the example below, a Table Transaction with an attached Account is currently open 
  • After highlighting a Product in the Transaction Menu and then selecting the "Redeem Points for Gift Certificate" Sub-Function, the Product will be able to be purchased through a Voucher Redemption Transaction 
    • If a Gift Certificate has no preset value, the Operator will then be prompted to enter a value for the Certificate
