This article covers an overview of the Account Points Till Functions in SmartPOS. When an Account has been attached to a Transaction, and if configured in BackOffice, the Account can Accrue and Redeem Points. Points will then be earned automatically when Products are sold to the Account. When an Account has accrued enough available Points, the Points can then be redeemed either to purchase Products, for Cash, for Gift Voucher.

When an Account has been attached to a Transaction, and if configured in BackOffice, the Account can Accrue and Redeem Points. Points will then be earned automatically when Products are sold to the Account.
When an Account has accrued enough available Points, the Points can then be redeemed either to purchase Products, for Cash, for Gift Voucher.

Points Function Buttons
- An authorised operator can access Points Function buttons from SmartPOS Workstations within the Account Function Panel after an Account has been selected
- From this Panel, Points can be used for a Single Product, for an entire Transaction, or Redeemed for Cash
- Points can also be Cleared to reverse using Points if the Account has changed their mind or the Operator has made a mistake
- The Operator must be authorized to utilize these specific Functions, in addition to being permitted to perform general Account Functions; the flags permitting these can be found in BackOffice within Operator Maintenance on the Till Privileges Tab
Item Use Points
- The Item Use Points Function will Redeem the Account's available Points for an Individual Product Line
- After an Account has been attached to a Transaction and the Product/s have been selected, highlight the desired Product in the Transaction Window and tap on the Item Use Points function buttons
- The Product will now be highlighted in teal with 0.00 displayed as the amount and a Points Redeem Line will be added to the bottom of the Transaction Window along with the amount of Points that have been Redeemed
- If the Product Line contains multiple quantities of a Product, the Operator can select the Product Quantity to Redeem Points for
- After highlighting the desired Product Line and selecting the Item Use Points function button, the Operator will be prompted to enter the quantity of the Product to Redeem
- The Product will now be split into two (2) Product Lines - displaying the Quantity that was not Redeemed using Points and still carrying a Balance, and a separate Line displaying the Quantity that has been Redeemed using Points
- The Operator can Tender the remaining Balance using the desired Payment method and Finalise the Transaction
Item Clear Points
- The Item Clear Points Function will reverse the Item Use Points Function
- After highlighting the desired Redeemed Product Line, the Operator will tap the Item Clear Points function button
- The Product Line will change back to the standard colour and the original Product Amount will be added back to the Transaction Balance along with the Points Redeem Amount being reduced accordingly
Sale Use Points
- The Sale Use Points function will Redeem the Account's available Points for all of the Products in the Transaction
- After an Account has been attached to a Transaction and the Product/s have been selected, tap on the Sale Use Points function button
- If the Account has enough available Points to cover the Transaction Balance, a prompt will appear notifying the Operator that the Transaction has been fully paid for and asking if they would like to Finalize the Transaction
- The Points Redeemed will display in the Transaction Window and if Yes had been selected on the previous prompt, the Transaction will disappear from the Transaction Window after about 10 seconds or when the Operator taps any button
- If the Operator selects to Finalise the Transaction, Points can no longer be cleared if a mistake has been made; the Transaction will need to be Reopened and Refunded
Sale Clear Points
- The Sale Clear Points function will reverse the Sale Use Points Function if the Transaction has not been Finalised
- After selecting the Sale Clear Points function button, the Product Lines will change back to the standard colour and the original Product Amounts will be added back to the Transaction Balance along with the Points Redeem Line being removed
Redeem Points for Cash
- The Redeem Points for Cash Function allows the Account to either apply a specific Monetary Amount to the Balance of the Transaction by Redeeming Available Points or to Redeem Available Points for Cash
Redeem Specific Amount in Transaction
- To Redeem a Specific Amount of the Transaction Balance by Redeeming Points, after an Account has been attached and Products have been selected for the Transaction, tap on the Redeem Points for Cash Function Key
- A window will open displaying a number pad and prompt the Operator to enter the Cash Value Amount to Redeem
- After entering the Cash Value to Redeem, a prompt will appear notifying the Operator of the Amount of Points that will be Redeemed for the Cash Value
- The Cash Value selected will then be deducted from the Transaction Balance and a Points Cashed Line will be added to the Transaction Window beneath the Sub Total displaying the Cash Value of Points Cashed
- In the following example, the Transaction Balance is 30.00 and the Account has an Available Points balance of 42.94; the Account has asked to Redeem only 30.00 Cash Value towards the Transaction Balance

- This Account Redeems Points at 100% of Cash Value, meaning that it will take 30 Points to Redeem for the 30.00 Cash Value
- Note that 30 Points have now been deducted from the Account's Points Balance


Redeem for Cash Out or Added to Account Balance
- To Redeem Available Points for Cash Out, after attaching an Account, do not select any Products and tap the Redeem Points for Cash function button
- A window will open displaying a number pad and prompt the Operator to enter the Cash Value Amount to Redeem
- By default, the maximum Cash Value Amount available to Redeem will display in the window; the Operator can Redeem that Amount or any Amount less than that - 100.00 in this example
- After entering the Cash Value to Redeem, a prompt will appear notifying the Operator of the Amount of Points that will be Redeemed for the Cash Value
- This Account Redeems Points at 200% of Cash Value, meaning that it will take 200 Points to Redeem the 100.00 Cash Value
- Note that 200 Points have now been deducted from the Account's Points Balance


- The Transaction will be Finalised; in this example, the Cash Value is added as a Payment to the Account Balance
- Alternatively, Points can be Redeemed for Cash Out, in which case the Cash Drawer will open allowing the Operator to issue the Cash
Redeem Points for Gift Voucher
- The Redeem Points for Gift Voucher Function allows an Account to Redeem Available Points for a Gift Voucher to use or share with someone else
- Vouchers must first be configured in BackOffice to be able to be issued using this Function
- After attaching the desired Account at a SmartPOS Workstation, the Operator will first need to select the Account Functions... function button to change the Panel to display additional Account Function buttons
- The Operator can now issue a Gift Voucher through Point Redemption by tapping on the Redeem to Certificate function button
- A window will open displaying the available Vouchers; either double-tap on the desired Voucher or highlight and tap on the Select button
- A prompt will appear notifying the Operator of the Amount of Points that will be Redeemed to issue the selected Voucher
- After selecting Yes, a prompt will appear to confirm the Voucher Creation displaying the Name of the Voucher and the Value Amount
- After selecting Yes, a prompt will then display and the Issued Voucher will be Printed from the designated Printer
- The Issued Voucher and Points Cashed information will display in the Transaction Window and the Account's Points Balance will be debited accordingly
