This article covers an overview of various Till functions and how they are used within SmartPOS, focusing on a handful of basic yet commonly used Table functions.

The Divide Payment allows Operators to divide the total bill equally. Unlike Split Bills, this function will not split individual Products to their respective Seats.

The Set Waiter allows business to a set personal waiter for a table.

Tagging a Table gives a special indication towards a table when required. A table can be untagged by clicking the same Function button once again.

Setting Table Limit allows setting a spending limit for a Table so that Operators can inform the customers when they are spending more than what they intended to.

A Table Walkout function shows that customers have left the table without paying due to reasons such as bad service or dissatisfaction. This shows as a loss incurred from Selling the Products.

Prerequisites

  • To access Table Till features, the applicable Operator Privileges   will need to be enabled
    • Operator Maintenance 'Till Privileges' Tab
      • Tables: "Table Sales" Flag
      • Tables: "Create New Tables" Flag
      • Tables: "Table Payments" Flag

      • Tables: "Table Waiter" Flag
      • All "Managers" Flags

Divide Payment

  • The Divide Payment Till Function button can be used if Guests wish to split the Balance of their Bill evenly without Splitting their respective Products
  • When an Operator taps the Function Key, a window will appear prompting the Operator to enter the number of Payees

  • After the number of Payees has been entered, the Amount of what each Guest should Pay is displayed and can also be printed

  • This is not used for Split Payments, it only calculates how much each guest would pay when the Balance is divided evenly amongst them

Set Waiter

  • Operators can also set a specific Waiter for the table when needed
  • To do so, open a new Table or re-open a Saved Table
  • Click the Set Waiter Till Function button which will open a window prompting the Operator to select a Waiter for the Table
  • Alternatively, the Operator can tap the Waiter is Me button on the bottom of the prompt

Tagging a Table

  • A Table Tag can be used to signify an internal reference such as a VIP guest or something similar
  • This Function button can be configured to Set, Clear, or Toggle; in this example, it is set to Toggle
  • Tapping the Set as Tagged function button will display a prompt notifying the Operator that the Table has been Tagged

  • It will now appear in the Table Map with a different colored dot

  • The Tag can be Toggled Off to be Cleared by tapping the Tag function button again

Setting a Table Limit

  • A Table Limit can be set to Limit the Balance for a Table
    • This may be requested to be set by a Guest for a large group or can be set by the Operator for a Bar Tab or a Table
  • When the Set Limit function button is tapped, a window will appear prompting the Operator to enter the Table Limit Amount; this can be changed later by tapping the function button again

  • After the New Limit has been entered, a prompt will display

  • When a Product is selected that would force the Balance on the Table to exceed the Set Limit, a warning prompt will display notifying the Operator and require a Manager Override to exceed the Set Limit

  • If Yes is selected, the selected Product will be added to the Transaction and the limit can be exceeded further
  • If No is selected or an authorized Manager Override Number is not entered, the limit cannot be exceeded

Table Walkout

  • The Table Walkout function is to be used when Guests have left the premises without paying the Balance on their Table
  • To use this function, the Table must first be saved

  • After tapping the Walkout function button, a prompt will appear requiring a Manager Override

  • After the Manager Override Number has been entered, a window will appear prompting a Reason for the Walkout to be entered (if configured in BackOffice to do so)

  • After a Reason has been entered, the Table Loss will appear in the Transaction Window along with the Reason

  • The stock for Products in the Table's Transaction will still be removed from inventory and the Costs will still be added to Cost of Sales, but since there has been no Revenue Earned, this will be quantified as a loss in Reporting
