This article covers the 'Fast Operator' Till Function available in SmartPOS that allows Operators to switch which one is "active" without logging the other one out.

The Fast Operator Function is designed to be used in busy environments where multiple Operators may be using the same SmartPOS Workstation.

By using Fast Operator buttons, Transactions can still be tracked separately by Operator without the need to Log On and Log Off via the standard practice using the login screen throughout the shift. When Fast Operator function buttons have been placed on a Till Function Map, after an Operator Logs On, the Operator's name will appear on a Fast Operator function button.

A SmartPOS Workstation will display a maximum of the last four (4) Operators who were Logged On to that Workstation. These Function buttons can then be used to switch between Operators. An Operator will only have to manually login if the Log Out button has been tapped.

Prerequisite

  • In order to access Fast Operator Keys, the following Operator Privileges will need to be enabled:
    • Operator Maintenance 'Till Privileges' Tab
      • General: "Operate Tills" Flag

Using Fast Operator Keys

  • In the following example, three (3) Fast Operator buttons have been added to the Function Map Panel
  • The text that appears on these buttons has been auto-populated with the names of the last three (3) Operators that have logged on to the SmartPOS Workstation

  • The name of the currently Active Operator will be displayed as usual at the top of the SmartPOS screen (not shown)
  • For example, if Ranju is currently active on SmartPOS and one of the other Operators wish to use the Workstation, Ranju will not have to Log Out and they will not need to Log On via the login screen again
    • E.g., if Allen comes to the Workstation, all he needs to do to switch to being the Active Operator is to select the Function button with his name on it and begin using the Workstation
  • These Operators will remain visible on the Function buttons as long as they remain the three most recently logged on Operators
  • If the Log Out button is tapped and the SmartPOS Workstation returns to the login screen, when an Operator logs on, the most recent Operators will still be displayed
