14 | KeyMap Layout Mode
.
This article covers an overview of Layout Mode which is used to observe the SmartPOS Workstation view of the KeyMap from BackOffice. This mode allows operators to ensure that all the products are assigned correctly and the KeyMap design meets the operator's expectation.
This is useful if the KeyMap is going to be used throughout different Stores within the Venue to ensure only
When viewed in Layout Mode there will be a number of different outcomes depending on which Products have been allocated to which Stores within the Venue.
Prerequisites
- To access KeyMap features, the applicable Operator Privileges will need to be enabled
-
Operator Maintenance 'Maintenance' Tab - Products: "Maintain Keymap Settings" Flag
Layout Mode
- Layout Mode is used to observe the SmartPOS Workstation view of the articles from BackOffice
- This mode allows operators to ensure that all the products are assigned correctly and the KeyMap design meets the operator's expectation
- This is useful if the KeyMap is going to be used throughout different Stores within the Venue to ensure only Products which should be sold in a particular Store will be available for selection by the Operator at that Store's Workstations
- When viewed in Layout Mode there will be a number of different outcomes depending on which Products have been allocated to which Stores within the Venue
KeyMap Preview in Layout Mode
- To view KeyMaps in the Layout Mode, follow these steps after logging into BackOffice
- From the Maintenance menu, select Product KeyMaps
- Select a KeyMap to view which will open the KeyMap Tab
- Select the Workstation from the side menu and Click on the Layout Mode button at the header
- The Workstation needs to be selected as the KeyMap design can vary according to the Till selected
- Once done, the SmartPOS view of KeyMap will be displayed
Venue 1
- This is how the KeyMap will look at the SmartPOS Workstation in the Store selected, which is the Main Restaurant of the Venue in this example
- All of the Products are displayed because they are all sold at the selected Store (Restaurant)
- This also confirms that all of the Products which have been set up to display as Double Keys will display correctly
Venue 2
- In the below example, the selected Store has been changed to the TC Warehouse Till 1, which in this Venue is selling a limited menu
- This confirms that the Products which are not available to be sold at the TC Warehouse Till 1 (due to the Products not being added to that Store in Product settings) will not display on the SmartPOS Workstations there
- In this case, the Main Restaurant and the TC Warehouse Till 1 can use the same KeyMap, which will minimize maintenance due to menu changes throughout the Venue
- Even though a Product has been added to a KeyMap, it will only be displayed on the SmartPOS Workstation/s within a Store if the Store has been added to that Product in Product Settings; otherwise, the Product's Key Space will appear blank in Layout Mode
- If in Layout Mode there is a blank Key Space where a Product is expected, that Workstation's Store will need to be added to the Product in the Product's settings
- Also, Product Group Keys and KeyLists will display at all Workstations using the KeyMap, however, only Products within the Group or KeyList which have been added to the Workstation's Store will display when the Group Key or KeyList Key is selected by the Operator at the Workstation
