Manufactured Products' stock are not deducting correctly when used as Ingredients

Overview

When Manufactured items are set as ingredients using Mills as the stock type, the system is not deducting the correct quantity from the stock on hand.

Issue encountered in versions 4.6 to 4.7.2.2.  A fix is still currently in development.

This article will show a workaround until the fix is released

Workaround

Convert the mills quantity to a fraction of the item quantity.

Example: The manufactured item has a base size of 1000 mills and the product that use the item as ingredient is set to take 100 mills.

Steps:

  • Edit the ingredient and set the stock type from mills to items

  • divide the number of mills used by the totals mills of the base product (in this example, it will be 0.1)

  • use that decimal value as the qty of items

The 0.1 qty is from dividing 100 mills by 1000 mills which is the base size of the manufactured item.
