This lesson covers the process of installing and connecting the Mobile Compia M3 to Backoffice.


SmartPDE

Step-by-step Guide

  • Place SmartPDE into the cradle

  • Click the No button when the Partnership option appears

  • Click the Next button

The Active Sync Screen will appear on the screen

  • Click the Explore button

  • Double Click on the Flash Disk folder

  • Copy the BEpoz and Startup folders located on the BEpoz Support Disk > BEpoz Setup Files > m3 > M3CE5-GREEN into the Flash Disk folder

  • Hard reset the device. (To hard reset, press the reset button located behind the unit in with the stylus for 10 seconds or until the screen turns black. Then release and press the reset button in then out in a fast movement.)

To Install the M3 with wireless

  • Open the Startup Folder

  •  Delete M3.ini

  • Rename M3wireless.ini to M3.ini

  • Close the Window

  • Remove the handheld from the cradle

  • Hard Reset the device

Connecting M3 to a wireless network

For Smart PDE to function and connect to BackOffice, you will need to configure the Wireless Settings

  • Click on the Start Menu

  • Click Settings > Network Connections

  • Click on SDCCF10G1 network adapter

  • Enter the desired IP address of the device

  • Click the OK button to return to the Desktop

  • Click on Summit Wireless Utility Icon. (similar to Cell phone coverage indicator.)

  • Click the Profile tab

  • Click the Scan button to search for available wireless networks

  • Double Click on the wireless network

  • Click Yes to create a new profile

  • Enter the Pass phrase (Network key, WEP key, Encryption password) and click the OK button

  • Click the Main tab

  • Click the Yes button to save the changes

  • Click the List button

  • Click on the tick box of the desired profile

  • Click the OK button

  • Click on the Auto Profile On radio button

  • Click OK to exit the Summit wireless screen

  • Soft Reset the device
