      5 | Operator Tip Payout

      The Operator Tip Payout Function allows for an Operator to pay out in cash from the drawer, the total amount of tips (both Cash and Credit card tips) at the end of their Clocking Shift. This is typically used along with the Operator Clocking Summaries feature.

      The Operator Tip Payout Function allows for an Operator to pay out in cash from the drawer, the total amount of tips (both Cash and Credit card tips) at the end of their Clocking Shift. This is typically used along with the Operator Clocking Summaries feature.

      Prerequisite

      • There is an Operator Flag called "Tip Payout Required" enforcing the Tip Payout to be performed at Clock Out

      Description

      • If the operator has an assigned cash drawer on a till other than where they are attempting to clock out, they are prompted “Clock Out not available from this POS” with a “cancel” button. When cancel is selected, return to SmartPOS


      • If the operator has an assigned cash drawer on the till where they are attempting to clock out, and if a tip balance exists for the operator, and if and the tip balance is less than or equal to the cash balance (Bepoz may not know about the float, however the operator cannot tip out using float money) the operator will automatically tip out when clocking out
      • If this occurs, the operator is prompted with their tip amount and description “Tip out amount” which is then manually removed from the cash drawer and shown as a negative amount under “Tip Out” on the Balance report The tip amount is rounded to the nearest 5 cents using standard mathematical rounding (i.e. 1-2 down, 3-5 up)


      • If the tip balance is greater than the cash balance (Bepoz may not know about the float, however the operator cannot tip out using float money), the operator will be prompted that they cannot tip out when clocking out. “Insufficient funds to tip out”


      • If a tip balance does not exist for the operator, the operator will not automatically tip out when clocking out and will be prompted “No tips”.
      • There is a new Flag in Workstation setup named "Show Tips Payout" that will force a new Tip Details Sections to be included in the Till or Operator Balance Report
        • This is useful if the 'Hide Balance Info" flag is also Turn on
        • There is a new Till Function named "Tip Payout" located in Non Sale Functions, that triggers the Tip Payout function outside a Clock Off event
        • Any subsequent Entry of Tips Payout will OVERWRITE any previous Tip Payout, by design
