      2 | Preset Discount Functions

      This article focuses on one of the two formats of Discount Functions - Preset Discounts. The Preset Discount Functions do not require Operators to manually enter the Discount amount for each individual Transaction as they are pre-determined in BackOffice. These Discounts can also be automated for some purchases so that the Operator does not have to remember each and every promotion. Some examples of Preset discount types are - 50% off up to $10, $1 off, etc.

      The Preset Discount Functions do not require Operators to manually enter the Discount amount for each individual Transaction as they are pre-determined in BackOffice.

      These Discounts can also be automated for some purchases so that the Operator does not have to remember each and every promotion. Some examples of Preset discount types are - 50% off up to $10, $1 off, etc.

      Prerequisites

      • Preset Discount is one of the two Discount / Pricing Function groups available in SmartPOS
      • For an Operator to be able to use this function, the Preset Discounts flag must be enabled within the Operator Maintenance in the Till Privileges tab

      Using Preset Discounts 

      • Preset Discount Till Functions can be configured to apply to an entire Transaction or to individual Products
      • To utilize a Preset Discount, the Operator will need to have an active, Non-Finalized Transaction
      • Upon tapping the desired Preset Discount button, there may be a prompt informing the Operator how much the Discount will be such as in the below example


      • The Discount amount will then display in the Transaction Window

          

      • Some other Preset Discounts, when used, will be noted by the text in the Transaction Window changing to a teal color and the Discount will apply to the entire Transaction by Discounting each Product by an equal portion of the Preset Amount
      • The given example shows $3 Discount on each item which reduced the total price by $6


      • The Percentages (%) and Amounts ($) for Preset Discounts can be customized in Function Map Setup or can be left blank which will make these discount functions manual
