Product Level Blocking is a feature where certain products can be restricted from sale if a government issued Cashless Debit Card is used to pay for them. This feature was created on the behalf of the Department of Social Services who wanted to restrict sale of certain items when their government issued CDC cards are used to pay.

About

The Product Level Blocking feature can be used in many ways, but it was ideally created to restrict the sale of certain items such as alcohol and cigarettes in a venue for customers using a Cashless Debit Card issued by the government to pay for the transaction:

A use case would be if a customer orders an alcoholic drink amidst their meal and at the end of their transaction, the customer tries to pay for it with the help of a CDC card, the EFTPOS device must indicate the POS system that this sale contains restricted item(s) and that the Operator must use another method to pay for the restricted item
The customer also cannot use a CDC card for:

Gift Certificate Sales
Account Payments
Account Top-Ups
Cash Outs

Even Tips must be paid for with another method, not using a CDC card

Prerequisites

Minimum Bepoz version of 4.7 is required for this functionality
To setup Product Level Blocking features within BackOffice, the applicable Operator Privileges will need to be enabled

To create a new Transaction Queue device to send sales data to DXC, the applicable Operator Privileges will need to be enabled
