      2 | "Product Search" Function

      This article covers an overview of the "Product Search" Till Function and how it is used within SmartPOS.

      This article covers an overview of the "Product Search" Till Function and how it is used within SmartPOS.

        The Product Search Function will allow Operators to search for a Product in the system. Products will be listed by their Group allowing the Operator to navigate through to locate the desired Product. An Operator can also search by Name or by entering a PLU or Barcode Number. 

        When a Product has been selected, a Product Details window will open. From this window, the Operator can select to sell the Product and add it to the current Transaction.

        Prerequisites 

        • To access this and other Product Till Functions, the applicable Operator Privileges   will need to be enabled 
          • Operator Maintenance 'Till Privileges' Tab
            • General: "Operate Tills" Flag
            • An additional privilege flag may need to be enabled if this particular Till Function is configured to require a "Till Button Privilege" which are numbered 1-7

        List Search

        • After tapping on the Product Search Till Function button, the Product Selection window will open
        • The Product Selection window displays the Product Groups on the left with the Products contained within a highlighted Group appearing on the right
          • The Operator can choose to navigate through this list to locate the desired Product

        Name Search

        • For more searches, the Operator can tap on the Search button
        • This will open a window displaying an alphanumeric keyboard allowing the Operator to enter the Name of a desired Product or part of a Product Name
          • After selecting OK, a window will open displaying a list of matching Products
        • The Operator can select one from this List or tap the Search Again button if the desired Product is not displaying


                

        Number Search

        • Alternatively, the Operator can tap on the Enter Number button
        • This will open a window displaying a number pad allowing the Operator to enter a PLU or Barcode for the desired Product
        • This would be used most often to add a Product to a Transaction when there is trouble scanning the Barcode


            

        Product Selection

        • After a Product has been selected using any of the above methods, a Product Details window will open
        • The Operator can choose to sell the Product using the Sell Item button or perform a number of other Functions from this window
