This article covers the installation and setup for Quest Payment System which is an integrated system for EFTPOS, Mobile POS Solutions and Mobile EFTPOS Products.

Prerequisites
  • Prior to installing EftposPlus the following should be considered

Use Administrator Rights

  • For EftposPlus to be successfully installed, the user profile for signing on to Windows must have local administrator rights
  • Without local administrative privileges the user will not have the necessary permissions to install EftposPlus and modify settings on the computer
  • For detailed instructions on configuring Windows User Accounts and Permissions please refer to the documentation provided with the relevant operating system
  • When you have completed the installation and configuration of EftposPlus you may want to restrict the access your users have to the computer by removing them from the Administrator group

Network Configuration

  • TCP/IP is used by EftposPlus to communicate over the local and wide area networks and between each EftposPlus application
  • TCP/IP is required on all EFTPOS Nodes, including single terminal Nodes

Single Terminal Node

  • For a single terminal Node the options to configure TCP/IP are:
    • To install a Network card and configure TCP/IP
    • If using Windows NT, install the NT supplied ‘MS Loopback Adapter’
    • If using Windows 98, install a standard 28800 modem and configure TCP/IP

Windows Services

  • When EftposPlus is initially installed, EftposPlus needs to be launched by double clicking the Start EftposPlus Enterprise desktop icon
  • By default EftposPlus does not run as a service
  • However, the EftposPlus applications can be run as services primarily to ensure that the EFTPOS Gateway is available to the Site for processing EFT transactions and the Terminal Nodes can be accessed from an Administration Node, even if they are not logged onto to Windows
  • Prior to registering the applications as services, you should ensure the installation and configuration of EftposPlus is complete and functions correctly
