Continuing on from the Introduction to SmartPOS Messages lesson, this lesson will focus on sending messages via SmartPOS. An Operator can choose to send Messages to another Operator from a SmartPOS Workstation. The Operator can choose to send a Manual Message or a Preset Message. Preset Operator Messages will need to be configured in the Function Map Setup.

The Operator can choose to send a Manual Message or a Preset Message. Preset Operator Messages will need to be configured in the Function Map Setup.
An Operator can also Message Accounts from a SmartPOS Workstation if the Account allows for Email and SMS Messaging and has the correct contact details setup. Account Messaging can be configured in Function Map Setup and can be either be Manual or Preset.
Prerequisites
N/A
Message Panel
- Operators can create a separate message panel in the Till Function Map for easy access to all the messaging functions as shown below
- Due to customization capabilities in Bepoz, these Till Function buttons may be located elsewhere and/or may be labeled differently
Manual Operator Messages
- Depending on how the Function button is configured, a Message can be sent to a specific Contact Number or Pager, or the Operator can select from the Contact List
- In this example, the Function is configured to prompt the Operator to select from the Contact List
- After tapping on the Send a Message function button, a window will appear which will display the available Contact Lists
- The Operator can choose a Contact List either by double-tapping on the Name of the Contact List or by highlighting the Contact List Name and tapping Select
- If Preset Messages have been configured in Venue Settings, they will display for optional Selection in a window; alternatively, the Operator can select Manual Entry from this window
- A window will then open displaying an alphanumeric keyboard allowing the Operator to send a Message to the selected Contact List
- After entering the Message Text and tapping OK, a prompt will appear for the Operator to confirm sending a Message; a second prompt will then appear to confirm that the Message has been sent
Preset Operator Messages
- After a Preset Message Function button has been configured in Function Map Setup, to send the Preset Message an Operator will first need to tap on the desired Message button
- A window will then appear which will display the available Contact Lists
- The Operator can choose a Contact List either by double-tapping on the Name of the Contact List or by highlighting the Contact List Name and tapping Select
- After selecting the Contact List to send the Preset Message to, a prompt will appear for the Operator to confirm sending a Message; a second prompt will then appear to confirm that the Message has been sent
Messaging Accounts
- Before utilizing an Account Messaging Function button, the desired Account must first be accessed at the SmartPOS Workstation
- After a Preset Account Message Function button has been configured in BackOffice, to send the Preset Message, an Operator will first need to tap on the desired Message button
- A prompt will then appear displaying the Message Details including the SMS number or Email address that the Message will be sent to, along with the Message Text
- The examples here allow an Operator to send an Account
- An SMS asking to return to the counter
- An SMS that the Account's order is ready
- An Email that the Account's order is ready
- These can be customized to suit a Venue's needs
- If the selected Account does not have an SMS or Email setup, a prompt will appear notifying the Operator
