This article includes SmartPOS usage examples of the SmartRetail Interface.

Operators can access the Smart Retail interface from SmartPOS once the  BackOffice Setup  and  Printing Setup  is completed.

This integration allows for SmartRetail users to Earn & Redeem points, create & update SmartRetail Member Accounts in Bepoz, and Print SmartRetail information from SmartPOS.

SmartRetail Points Balance data is stored on the SmartRetail Server and is not stored in BackOffice or the Bepoz Database; this integration facilitates retrieval of the Points & Account data to be displayed in SmartPOS and can optionally create & update Accounts in Bepoz to further enhance the customer experience/loyalty.

Considerations

Card Must Be Inserted

  • As a reminder, SmartRetail Accounts cannot be opened in SmartPOS without the associated SmartRetail Member Account Card inserted into the connected Card Reader
    • When properly inserted & read, the Card will trigger the SmartRetail Account to be opened automatically in SmartPOS

Locked Cards

  • If a Locked Card (typically one that has been reported as Lost) is inserted into the Card Reader, a "Card Is Locked (Lost)" message prompt will appear on the SmartPOS screen
    • This Card cannot be used

Blank Cards

  • On the rare instance that a blank Card is inserted into the Card Reader, the "Reading Card..." message prompt will appear indefinitely, however, after 30 seconds another message prompt will appear - "Reading card process exceeds 30 secs. Do you want to continue to wait another 30 secs?"
  • If YES is selected, the original message prompt will reappear
  • If No is selected, the action will be canceled

  • This message prompt may also appear even if a Card is not blank if there is a slow response from the Card Reader

Earn Points

  • After a SmartRetail Member Account Card has been properly inserted into the Card Reader, Read, and the Account has been retrieved, the Account can Earn Points
  • The Card must be left in the Card Reader during the Transaction and until after the Transaction has been Finalized
  1. The Account's current Points Balance will initially display along with the Account Information above the Transaction Window
  2. As Products are added to the Transaction, the Points being Earned in the current Transaction will display next to the Points Balance
  3. After ensuring that full Payment has been Processed and the Transaction has been Finalized, a message prompt will appear displaying the Total Points Awarded to the Card
  4. The next time the Account is retrieved, the new Points Balance can be confirmed

  • If the Card is removed from the Card Reader prior to the Transaction being Finalized, the Earned Points will not be Awarded to the Account; a warning message prompt will appear
  • As a reminder - Points Balances, Earned, and Redeemed Amounts for SmartRetail Member Accounts are only retrieved from the SmartRetail Server; they are not stored in Bepoz
