Prerequisites​​​​​​​

To begin the implementation process, the Implementation Operator must have the following privileges enabled:

  • Ability to use BackOffice
  • Access to & maintenance of Venue, Stores & Tills

SMS Global - SMS Link Device

  • This device will provide a link for the organisation to SMS Global so that messages can be sent to customers via BackOffice.
  • Prior to setting up the BackOffice Device, an account must be created for the customer with SMS Global
  • Please see the image and setup notes below for instructions:

SMS Link Setup Instructions

  • After adding a new Device to the Server Workstation, enter a Device Name and then set it as follows:
    • Device Type: SMS Link
    • External DLL Name: Stdlibrary.Dll
    • Class Name: SMS Global
  • Set the Job Options as follows:
    • Username: Enter the customer's username for the SMS Global account
    • Password: Enter the customer's password for the SMS Global account
    • From PhoneNum: Enter the Phone Number that will appear as the Sending Number; this must be approved by SMS Global for the customer's account
    • Country Code: Enter the 2-digit ISO International Country Code that will be used to calculate available credits; e.g., Australia = AU
    • Create Audit at Credit: Optionally, set a Credit Amount here to monitor the account's available Credits and create an Audit in the system when it reaches the number of Credits entered
  • Click 'Check Settings' and then OK to save the Job

Venue Messaging Setup

  • After creating and saving the SMS Link Device, it must be set per Venue in the 'Messaging Device Setup' section of the 'Messaging and Billing' tab:


  • SMS Messages can now be sent from BackOffice via Messaging -> Message Accounts
    • Ensure that the 'Message Type' is set to 'SMS'
  • Alternatively, messages can also be sent via Account Maintenance -> 'Send Message' button

Sending a Test Message

Optionally, send a test SMS message by completing the following steps:

  • Head to the Tools menu (top, left in BackOffice) and turn on 'Support Enable Send 1 Message'
  • Go to the Messaging component and select 'Message Accounts'
    • It's recommended to choose 'Manual Selection'
      • Select an Account (this should be an internal Account as it will be used for sending a Test message)
      • From the Message Type drop-down, select 'SMS'
      • Enter test text into the body of the message
      • Click 'Send' from the messaging toolbar
      • A prompt will appear with several options; select 'Send Test'
