      15 | "Table Open Alpha" Sub-Function

      This article outlines the "Table Open Alpha" Sub-Function, how it is configured in BackOffice, and how it can be used in SmartPOS. The "Table Open Alpha" Sub-Function is designed to Open Tables within the configured Table Group. Tables Groups are numbered from zero (0) to seven (7) but can exceed further if using Table Group Offsets. Please refer to the Table Groups Explained Article for information in regards to Table Groups and Table Offsets.

      This article outlines the "Table Open Alpha" Sub-Function, how it is configured in BackOffice, and how it can be used in SmartPOS.

      The "Table Open Alpha" Sub-Function is designed to Open Tables within the configured Table Group. Tables Groups are numbered from zero (0) to seven (7) but can exceed further if using Table Group Offsets.

      Please refer to the Table Groups Explained Article for information in regards to Table Groups and Table Offsets.

      This Sub-Function is the same as the "Table Open" Sub-Function but allows and prompts for alphanumeric Table Numbers.

      Prerequisites 

      • To access Till Function Settings, the following Operator Privileges will need to be enabled: 
        • Operator Maintenance 'General' Tab
          • System Setup: "Maintain Till Function Maps" Flags
      • To access and use this Till Function within SmartPOS, the following Operator Privileges will need to be enabled:
        • Operator Maintenance 'Till Privileges' Tab
          • General: "Operate Tills" Flag 
          • Tables: "Create New Tables" Flag

      Initial Set-up

      • Click on the desired Button space and configure the Button Settings: 
        • In the Button Text field enter the text that will display on the Till Function Button on SmartPOS Workstation Screens 
        • Set the Function drop-down to 'Tables & Accounts' 
        • Set the Sub-Function to 'Table Open Alpha'


      Function-Specific Configuration Options 

      • If required, enter a corresponding number or combination of numbers into the Item field where: 
        • Entering the corresponding Table Group Number will display Tables belonging to that Table Group when used
      • Enter a corresponding number into the SubItem field where:
        • "1" will automatically open a Table with a pre-allocated Number (the Table Number can be set in the Key field) 
        • "2" will sort Tables by Name 
        • "4" will automatically allocate a Table and will not prompt the Operator the list of Tables 
        • "8" will automatically save any Products in the Till List when the Table is created
        • "16" will only allow tables to be opened and created from a Room (i.e. when using a Property Management System)
      • The Key field is the Table Number or Start Table Number that will be allocated when a Table is opened 
        • This field will only be active if "1" is used in the SubItem Field 
        • If the current Table that is assigned in the Key Field is not available, it will then be assigned the next available table incrementally 

      SmartPOS Example

      • After selecting the "Open Table Alpha" Sub-Function, a List of all active tables will be displayed; when beginning a New Table, Operators will be prompted to enter a Table Name using an alphanumeric keyboard
      • Tables can be then selected individually where other processes can be completed such as Ordering Products and Printing Receipts
