How-To Guide
  • Device Settings need to be set to allow communication with the Sentinel app
  • Device Settings for the Sentinel UK device class are as follows:

TCPIP Settings

 

IP Address

  • Set this to the machine on the network that is running the Ocius Sentinel application and pinpad

TCP Port

  • Set this to match Sentinel's Socket Port (default is 25000)
  • Sentinel uses a Progress Socket Port too, which must be set within Sentinel to the Socket Port plus plus 1
  • The default is 25001, so this should be fine

Device Options

Use POS Printer

  • Check this box to allow printing via SmartPrint
  • For this to work, the Sentinel app must be set to print to a Text File
  • Uncheck to print via Sentinel App, where printer selection is controlled by the Sentinel app

Login ID

  • 1111 was provided for testing by Sentinel
  • Changes to this are at the discretion of Sentinel

Password

  • As above for Login ID

Receipt File Path

  • To print via SmartPrint, the Sentinel app must write the receipts to a directory in text format
  • Specify the directory here using a fully qualified network path
  • For example: \\POSMachine\C
  • Note that the default directory set by Sentinel is the C: root directory
  • The chosen directory must be shared so that it's visible from the machine running SmartPrint

 

  • That's all there is to the setup
  • The Ocius Sentinel app must be started manually on the box that has the pinpad connected
  • Manual logon is not required as this is handled automatically by BEPoz
