About

  • Bepoz has a built in Web server for sending reports to a smartphone (iPhone, Android etc.), iPad or similar or computer
  • This enables users to be “out and about” and request and receive reports at any time using their phone
    • It may also be used from a home computer or even an Internet café computer
  • Web Reports is typically designed to be accessed over the internet, but it may also be useful to access it within a venue
  • If a user wants access to reports but does not require the full BackOffice interface, they may use Web Reports to request and receive reports via their web browser
  • Simply, upon browsing to the Web Reports webpage, you must log in, and then you are presented with all the Saved Reports available to you (Personal, Global and Global Hidden)
  • From here you can request any of these reports to be run immediately and then sent to your browser as a pdf file
  • This pdf file report is the viewed real time on your phone, iPad or computer
  • Bepoz Web Reports does not require any Web Server installed (like IIS etc.), the web pages and reports are served directly by Bepoz
  • Additionally, it may coincide with an existing Web Server at your internet location, simply using a different port address to distinguish from the corporate web site
  • The Web Reports is a Job that is setup like any other job; It is advisable to schedule it to run at Startup
  • The only setting that is required is the connection port; this is the actual TCP Port that the Web Reports will operate on
  • Set this to 80 for the standard web server port
  • This means that your web browser will only need to enter your IP Address or URL to access Web Reports
  • Alternatively, you may need to use a different port to avoid conflicting with an existing web server at your location
  • All Sites will vary depending on your IT infrastructure, but the following is the normal steps that would be required to start using Web Reports

Notes when setting up to use Web Reports over the Internet

  • Create the Web Reports Jobs and set the Port to 80 if you do not currently have a web server at your internet IPAddress, else use a high port number like 19821 (do NOT use a port below 10000)
  • At the Internet Router, set the port forwarding for above port to be forwarded to the SmartController Computer. (Ensure that the SmartController Computer has Internet access via that same router)
  • If the site has a static IP Address, you can browse to that IP Address and access Web Reports. If the site has a dynamic IP address, it is suggested to use a service like DYNDNS (www.dyndns.com) to enable a standard URL for access to your Web Reports
  • Ensure your router has the ability to update the dyndns IP Address automatically upon connecting to the Internet, and set this up
  • If you are using a port other than 80, to access Web Reports you should browse to http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:port where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is your IP Address or Internet URL, and port is the port used. (The important thing is the colon : between them.)
